Meet Arooj, our junior UX designer
If you'd like to join the design team, we're hiring.
Our User Experience Designers are fundamental to ClearScore. They make sure ClearScore doesn’t only look beautiful, but is also beautiful to use.
In this blog post we meet Arooj, our junior UX designer, to talk design, product development and Drake.
1. Who are you and what do you do at ClearScore?
I work as a UX designer at ClearScore focusing on creating great experiences for our users.
We are constantly working on improving our product and I get involved with designing new innovative features or just improving the overall experience of the existing app to ensure it is intuitive and user friendly.
2. What’s a typical day like in your job?
The day starts off with breakfast in the office. After breakfast we have a team standup where we catch up with everything everyone is working on.
Sometimes I’ll have a quiet morning where I can get stuck into my designs, and other days I’ll be in meetings or some creative sessions discussing concepts with other team members.
The days differ quite a bit depending on what I’m working on at the time. I might be at a stage where a new concept is clearly defined, which means I can start creating the wires and/or the specification. Or I might be in the process of developing a new user flow or interaction for a feature which will involve discussions and brainstorms with the other members in my team or working closely with Justin, our CEO or Kash, our Chief Product Officer.
3. What have you worked on recently that you’re proud of?
I’m currently working on an exciting project that involves changing the approach we use to recommend products to our users. Developing this new concept will allow us to provide users with specialised products to gain control of their finances.
We believe every user has specific needs, so we want to develop a personalised experience for each and every one of them. We’re completely rethinking our current approach, and I’m really excited to see how it’s going to turn out.
4. What do you listen to while working?
Anything really- we have a great office Spotify playlist but currently I’m listening to Drake’s album.
5. What’s your favourite quote?
“If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” – Henry Ford
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” – Steve Jobs
6. What tools do you tend to use?
I tend to work in Sketch and Omnigraffle. I do dip into Illustrator and Photoshop every now and then. However for designing wireframes I stick to Sketch because of the useful features they’ve developed which make it perfect for creating wires. And of course my pencil and sketch book.
7. What do you like about ClearScore?
Being part of such a successful company with incredible growth. We are almost hitting 3 million users and its extremely exciting to imagine how things really will snowball from now.
I like the responsibility you are given here straight away and you really are in control of what you achieve, you’ll go as far as you want to go and you are given the support at ClearScore to achieve what you want.
It is rewarding to be part of a company where we are genuinely helping people and aiding them to get back control of their money and improve their financial well-being.
