Tesco Bank Credit Cards

Tesco Bank offers six credit cards, covering balance transfers, purchases, money transfers, everyday low-rate spending, and credit building. All of Tesco's credit cards earn Clubcard loyalty points on eligible purchases (but not on balance or money transfers).

Tesco Bank credit cards are now provided by Barclays. Following a High Court-approved banking business transfer, Tesco Bank's credit card, personal loan, savings, and Clubcard Pay+ business moved to Barclays Bank UK PLC on 1 November 2024. Barclays continues to operate these products under the Tesco Bank brand through a long-term partnership with Tesco. Tesco's insurance, travel money, and gift card products were not part of this transfer and remain with a separate entity, Tesco Personal Finance plc.

Clubcard Points and Rewards

  • 1 extra Clubcard point for every £4 spent on Tesco fuel, when using your Tesco Bank credit card. This card-specific bonus doesn't extend to Esso stations. Esso stations with a Tesco Express still earn standard Clubcard points on both fuel (1 point per £3 spent) and in-store groceries (1 point per £1 spent) — just without the Tesco Bank card's extra bonus rate.

  • 1 point per £8 spent outside Tesco

  • No points earned on balance or money transfers

100 points converts to £1 in vouchers. Vouchers can be used at Tesco, or exchanged for double their value with over 100 Tesco Reward Partners (reduced from 3x to 2x since June 2023).

Fees and Protection

  • Foreign transaction fee: 2.75% on purchases made in a foreign currency

  • Balance transfer cap: up to 95% of the available credit limit

  • Balance transfers between two Tesco Bank cards are not permitted

  • Section 75 protection: purchases between £100 and £30,000 may be covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 — this protection does not apply to money transfers
