Virgin Money Credit Cards

Virgin Money offers credit cards in five categories: Virgin Atlantic rewards, balance transfer, all-round (purchases plus balance transfers), travel and everyday cashback. This guide covers each card’s main features, fees and representative examples.

ClearScore is a credit broker, not a lender. Always make sure you can afford repayments.

Virgin Money and Virgin Atlantic credit cards are issued by Nationwide Building Society (trading as Virgin Money), following the transfer of Virgin Money’s business to Nationwide on 2 April 2026.

Virgin Money’s Card Checker shows the likelihood of acceptance before applying, without affecting your credit score. Checking eligibility doesn’t guarantee acceptance, which depends on Virgin Money’s own criteria and checks.

Points earned each month are capped based on the card’s credit limit. For example, a £5,000 credit limit earns points on the first £5,000 of purchases that month, with no points on spending beyond that. Points aren’t earned on cash transactions, balance transfers or money transfers.

The reward voucher can be used for either a one-cabin upgrade or a companion ticket. Flying Club tier affects the voucher’s maximum value rather than which option is available: up to 75,000 Virgin Points for Red members, and up to 150,000 for Silver and Gold members. Taxes and charges apply.

Virgin Atlantic Reward: Representative 26.9% APR variable. Based on an assumed credit limit of £1,200 at a purchase rate of 26.9% p.a. (variable) with no annual fee.

Virgin Atlantic Reward+: Representative 69.7% APR variable. Based on an assumed credit limit of £1,200 at a purchase rate of 26.9% p.a. (variable) and a £160 annual fee.

Balance transfer credit cards

Virgin Money’s balance transfer cards allow cardholders to move up to 95% of their credit limit from another UK Visa or Mastercard credit or store card. Transfers must be made within 60 days of account opening to get the promotional rate. A one-off transfer fee applies, and the length of the 0% period depends on individual circumstances rather than being the same for every applicant. The cards also include a money transfer option, which moves funds directly into a bank account, with its own fee. Read more: What is a balance transfer?

Representative example: Representative 27.9% APR variable. Based on an assumed credit limit of £1,200 at a purchase rate of 27.9% p.a. (variable) with no annual fee.

The total cost of a transfer therefore depends on the fee, whether the balance is cleared within the 0% period, and making at least the minimum payment each month (a missed payment can end the promotional rate).
