Santander Zero Card

The Santander Zero Credit Card is no longer available to new applicants. This page is kept as a record of what the card offered.

ClearScore is a credit broker, not a lender.

The Santander Zero was a no-fee card aimed at people who spent regularly overseas. It launched in October 2016, after Santander withdrew its 123 credit card from sale.

Its defining feature was the absence of foreign transaction fees — both on purchases and on cash withdrawals made abroad in local currency, the latter being unusual even among travel-focused cards. There was no monthly or annual fee. Santander later added a 12-month interest-free period on purchases.

One caveat applied throughout: interest on cash withdrawals began accruing immediately, as on most credit cards, so the fee-free withdrawal didn't mean a cost-free one unless the balance was cleared quickly.

Santander discontinued the card in August 2021. Existing cardholders were able to continue using their accounts, and Santander continued issuing replacement cards on expiry.

The Santander Everyday Credit Card is Santander's current no-monthly-fee card, with options for 0% on balance transfers.

Our Santander Everyday Credit Card review covers its current rates and features.
